An Iranian man is pleading responsible to being the mastermind behind the Robbinhood ransomware rip-off.
Based on a current press release by the U.S. Division of Justice (DOJ), 37-year-old Sina Gholinejad of Iran has pleaded responsible to taking part in a hack of a number of cities throughout the US, inflicting widespread disruption and tens of hundreds of thousands of {dollars} in losses.
Authorities say that in January 2019, Gholinejad and his co-conspirators gained and maintained unlawful entry to the victims’ computer systems, stealing delicate knowledge and importing the Robbinhood malware, which in flip would take over a sufferer’s PC, encrypt its information, and try to extort crypto property out of them in change for the discharge of the information.
